Pretty busy these days. You know, another blog running (maybe I can start a new blog daily instead of new posts ha!). Also I installed new plugins on Mi Cienaga such as preview comments feature, post ratings (this is cool, I hope it will help me to focus on specific subjects) and other cool things as lightview (a plugin that allows you to see pictures overlapped to the actual screen – it’s similar to lightbox, but more powerful… I had to pay for that!).
Some days ago USlive had a comment which made me think (a little bit). It was related to the garage sales and the guest was impressed about why in Spain we don’t have that amazing custom. I say, what about Spain for Americans? Which part of Spain might be more friendly for the American way of life? For instance I am sure that Seattle is a friendly area for Spaniards because most of people know where Spain is (and that helps to keep our Spanish pride in a very good shape). Also people are open-mind with democrat views where most of Spaniards feel comfortable.
That’s an interesting question. I should write something about that.

“Which part of Spain might be more friendly for the American way of life?”
Well, I would like to know the answer to that question myself!!! And I think it would be great to hear insights form other posters of USLive and “MiCienega” about this question…
Because for instance, I would hate to have retorted back to me the same ol’ droned answers of Costa del Sol, Benindorm, Marbella, and all of those English ex-pat populated places that everyone knows about. I don’t think that language-friendly places are the best-apt for convening “friendly” cultural atmospheres for Americans (I mean, isn’t that what you are trying to avoid to begin with- places were the people act just like where you are leaving from?).
Well, I know the answer to this is more complicated than that when you involve a a whole lot of people from a particular country. However, I am encouraged by articles such as this one that do try to examine things a little bit further:

Now this was a surprise to me- Pamplona and Bilbao! I guess the “Hemingway” influence is till in effect up in Pamplona! All I have to do now is get used to finishing in the bottom-half of the Liga standings, and I should be OK there [joke!]….
Or as for Bilbao, maybe if I bring my “Seattle Tuxedo” and lenghten my sideburns, I should be fine there-Bale? : )
Well, I will admit I have heard nice things about San Sebastian around the Santander area, and I’ve had friends that recomend the Catalan regions as well. But I think you are right- you should write something about this topic so we can really examine this question; perhaps a few articles while you’re at it!
Anyhow, have a good holiday trip (to Alaska?) in the meantime, and I’m sure we’ll be looking forward to reading more articles about this when you come back!!!
PS- Since I mentioned Bilbao, I have to put up this little link in-between here because I though it was funny and could not resist:

I don’t think you can live an American way of life in Spain, but probably Madrid is more open than Catalonia or the North Regions for foreign residents. I know some Americans who loved Valencia.
I like Malaga, because is a very friendly city for everybody.
That is very true, Cowboy- and appreciate the suggestions and comments about back home.
Aptly enough, my elementary school teacher for many years (yes, back then it was one teacher that ascended levels with you, not like today!) was from Valladolid, but lived many years in Valencia. I did hear good things from her about the city (plus I happen to like the ‘Che’s too!)
As for Madrid, I would have figured that is too city-fied and populated- plus the on-going public works there don’t help much either. However, I would still like to visit one day and see for myself. Perhaps I should take up on the offer of some relatives that live in the Community of Madrid and visit with them…
Actually I didn’t like Madrid, until one native that I met IN NEBRASKA, walked with me and showed me a lot of places you could go walking, then I started to like Madrid.
